Robert Garvey starred as Earlsfield ABC hosted the first stage of the schoolboy championships, all 8 Earlsfield boxers that entered received walkovers to become south west London's champions at their respective weights and will represent south west london at the london finals scheduled for 28/29 january at Feltham college. Only one south west final was contested and saw alfie shrubb (Twickenham ABC) narrowly outpoint D Morley from Epsom & Ewell, Eleven other contests were staged but the highlight of the show was Robert Garvey's impressive win over St Gerrad's ABC's Danny Maguire, robert started slowly working behind his jab while Magurie looked to land big right hands as the bout progressed in to the second round Robert sharpened his jab up and started to land two and three punch combinations to widen the score as the contest seem to be drifting away from Maguire, at the start of the third it was clear that Maguire needed something special and he waded forward looking for the knockout, Robert was able to avoid a lot of Maguires big shots and got a close unanimous decision in what was a high quality middleweight bout.
